living in Johnstown
We completed our first year in Johnstown and really have been enjoying it. We have all the amenities of Loveland and Fort Collins close by with plenty of things to do!
Seems like it was a long, cold winter, not a ton of snow but plenty of COLD. I am excited and ready for spring, we have a lot to do to get the yard and garden ready for the summer.
That is fun though, yard work – OK, yeah it can be overwhelming but still it is at least ‘enjoyable work’.
We have a great group of neighbors, and had a cul-de-sac’ brunch with everyone yesterday – Nice to see everyone out of their houses and outside enjoying the sun!
We are looking forward to a long, hot, sunny Colorado Summer!
And a special news flash: Jake and Natalie will be home TOMORROW! We are very excited!
garden plan
Last year we learned a lot from our garden, the soil up here is fantastic and things just like to GROW!
We did a little of everything and kinda learned what’s good, bad and ugly.
Lisa loves the pumpkins, but they really took over a little too much space and vined everywhere. We will do them again this year, just in a different area.
Tomatoes were awesome, and we could literally go out every day and pick a few tomatoes.
The corn was OK, I think we will pass on that this year because for a few ears of corn, too much space and work.
I think we will pull out all of the water lines, replant and stick to strict ‘rows’ a little more spread apart.
I planted everything too dense and close together thinking of a ‘super garden’ but it turned in to a super ‘tangel’ of unhappy plants.
Give ’em some room to grow, you have the space!
And I will be replacing the ‘blue barrel planters’ as they did horrible and the peppers really never produced much.
Could be the wrong plant for the space, but I am going to tear them out and build two nice on ground planters like I used to have at the farm!
We will have another big garden this year!!! Garden 2.0
