I did some work for Dr Hoover and fixed The ‘Pear’, this pretty cool little machine that takes images of your face and analyzes them.
Mine showed mostly around the 60 year old age group, my sun damage was a little higher Wrinkle and Spot… But all in all it looked good.
It was an interesting fix, the computer it used to run on failed, the hard drive in that computer had the only copy of the software installed to use it. To boot, the SATA connector on the drive was damaged, broke and ready to fall apart.
I was able to quickly hook the hard drive up to my Linux machine and make an image copy of the entire OS, drive, software and everything. Restoring this image on to a new SSD hard drive and reinstalling this in a new machine, that is all it took!
We now have a brand new machine running an very old copy of windows 7 with all the software needed to run the Pear.
Success!
And playing with the machine in my office, even more fun!
