I have been wanting to replace my Handgaurd on my AR to a free float handgaurd with a rail so I can put a scope on it. I tired everything to remove the barrel nut, everything – I could not get ‘er done! So I had to buy a vice block to lock it down int he vice.
Then it took a 2 foot cheater bar to get this bad boy to bust loose! Holy cow! It was tough! It has never been off since I have owned the gun.
Finally she came free, actually very easy once I put the cheater bar on it, I guess the gun smiths have some special ‘trick’ or talent to get it off.
I used the official and ‘proper’ AR tool but it was a challenge!
The vice block made it a bit easier because it held it and it DID NOT move!
Job complete, time to sight in the scope and get to shootin’…
