I added a second panel to my shed solar system, this one facing north east’ish to capture the afternoon sun.
What an improvement, the hot afternoon sunshine really boost the charge on my batteries and gives it enough ‘Umph’ to run through the night!
It is running a 1000W convertor that powers 2 Meshtastic nodes for on grid computing, a small fan to keep it all cool from 10am to 8pm during the day, a solar node Dell micro PC running Windows 11, and most importantly – my pool pump!
Everything runs perfectly and is online 24/7, for a little bit of free electricity!
If I invested in some more, or bigger batteries I could have a valid, big working system with just two panels, 175 watts each.
It is a lot of fun, and I am learning solar, the ins, the outs and the intricacies of getting it all hooked up and working for an inexpensive system.
This would be a great system for a distant cabin, land, or property with no ‘real power’ – you could put a cell hot spot, a couple cameras, and be able to remotely monitor the property very inexpensively.
