Pulled out the ole Heltec again, still been messing with Meshtastic trying to get it at 100% so I can put it out in the shed hooked up to the little antenna I set up and running off of solar.
Kinda outta site, outta mind.
I got a new solar panel, solar controller and a Lithium Ion battery ( a good sized one – 15AH) and spun this guy up for some testing.
Kind of a cloudy day, and late afternoon – when i fired it up the battery had 13.3 VDC. Good enough to run a small USB device.
Ran it overnight and checked the next morning, 13.3 VDC. Nice! And it had traffic flowing through it from all the other mesh nodes in my area – success!
This battery could probably run 20 of these things with no problem, Lithium Ion – IMPRESSIVE!
That is one of my next spring or summer projects is to get a golf cart, restore it and fix ‘er up, replace all the batteries with Lithium ION and have a fun ride for running around Johnstown.
