I picked this beast up yesterday in Fort Collins, a medium Big Green Egg!
It was a bit of a drive, and a bit of a bitch to load and transport, and, well just flipping heavy! (140lbs is what the specs say) But I think I got a good deal on it.
New they go for $799 and $299 for the stand. I paid $380 for it all. It was DIRTY, and the stand would hardly hold it up. All the screws were lose, some missing and it took a minute to get it all tightened up and straigneted out.
I took it all apart and cleaned every piece, it was definitely well used – but it cleaned up nice. Ordered some lump charcoal from Wood’s market, it was delivered an hour later – nice!
Fired er’ up and let it get up to temperature (Which happened way quicker than I thought!) It got up to 500 degrees quickly, I brushed, scraped and cleaned all of the inside – looks like brand new now!
I was amazed also at how easy it was to tune it down to 275 degrees and hold it there by only adjusting the vents – super easy, super cool and my new outdoor cooking adventure will now begin!
