I picked up a PacMan game from Roller Auctions (Check it out if you have never heard of it, pretty cool!) for $30! The auction said new, but non-working. Me being the know-it-all assumed it was just a bad wall-wart or a blown fuse.
No such luck. The wall-wart was dead, no power, I was right there – but interesting enough it was a 30VDC adapter – strange voltage from what I understand.
Hooked it up to my variable power supply and set it to 30VDC – still nothing.
Dammit, so much for the easy fix. So I tore it apart. Right away when I was inside the back cover I found a small power-supply with a blow capacitor.
Browed their support site, ordered a replacement power supply and a new wall-wart (Because I feel this one is the wrong voltage – And blown) to fix it – Another $30.
I think someone lost the original cord and found one that fit, plugged it in and BOOM – blew the power supply!
in 6 – 10 days, we will know! Ha ha – If I have $60 into a simple arcade game, I will be happy! Let the gaming begin!
Day 229 – Success is the sum of countless small victories.
